Fulcrum SP Materials is a nanotechnology company dealing with composite materials. The company is the only company in the world that uses a propriety protein to coat and bind nano-particles to fabrics, and to disperse nano-particles in matrixes and adhesives and by that, to enhance the performance of such fabrics and adhesives. The goals are stronger and lighter composite materials.
Composite materials are used in many industries, and it is only logical to assume that ultra-strong, ultra-light composite materials which cost no more than existing inferior materials will have endless applications and will be adopted in many verticals/industries.
The company proved its technology using carbon fabric, a market that has grown from $3.3B in 2007 to $5.5B in 2010 and is expected to reach $10B by 2014, mainly because of the fact that carbon fabric has become a critical component in high-end strength-to-weight industries such as aerospace, construction, transportation and professional sports equipment. The company is on the "radar screen" of certain strategic partners.
